Information Wenzu uses

We store your account email and authentication information; profile details you choose to provide; interests and preferences; posts, images, offerings, comments and messages; follows, likes, saves, blocks and reports. Our hosting and database providers may process technical information such as IP addresses and service logs to operate and secure the service.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide your account, publish the content you choose to share, deliver messages and notifications, personalise discovery, respect your preferences, respond to support requests and address abuse. Email is needed for email-based accounts. Profile details, interests and optional analytics are choices you control.

Public content and messages

Profiles, published posts and active offerings are public and may be viewed without signing in or indexed by search engines. Messages are stored for conversation participants; they are not end-to-end encrypted. People you send messages to can keep copies. Saved collections, account preferences and blocks are restricted to your account through access controls.

Optional discovery analytics

If you enable discovery analytics, Wenzu records account-linked views, likes, saves, shares, searches and contact actions, including search terms, to understand and improve discovery. This optional collection does not include private message bodies or precise location. You can turn it off and delete your discovery events in Settings. Operational records needed to run the service are separate.

Service providers and storage

Wenzu uses Vercel for hosting and Supabase for authentication, database and image storage. Data may be processed outside your country by these providers. If you open WhatsApp support, WhatsApp handles the information you choose to send under its own terms. We use browser cookies or storage for sign-in and preferences such as theme.

Retention and deletion

Account and content data are kept while needed to operate your account and the features you use. You can edit or delete your content and permanently delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes active account records and uploaded images. Backups, service logs or records required to handle legal obligations or disputes may remain for the applicable provider or legal retention period. Deletion does not remove copies independently saved by others.

Your choices and questions

Use Settings to manage interests, notification choices, message privacy, blocked accounts and optional analytics. Contact Wenzu support on WhatsApp to ask about access, correction, deletion or objections to the processing of your information. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you. Do not send your password.

You may also contact South Africa's Information Regulator about a privacy concern. We will update this page and its date as the service changes.
